I was outside in the wonderful Spring sunshine today. I pulled weeds a lot. Also helped plant some trees. The trees were planted mostly by my husband. The sun was so intoxicating, made me rather want to just sit on the ground and soak it up, while wearing a wide-brimed hat, of course.
We have a nice new "patio peach" tree, to the left of the corner of our "much future patio". It's blooming, deep pink blossoms, it's about half grown, so that's some where around 4 feet high right now. Further over in the yard, near the front of the fence line, where the ground goes down, down, down, but not enough to make a retaining wall useful, we put two Paper Bark Maples, they are young, taller than me, how high is that? Well, taller than what the patio peach tree is! They have very thin trunks though, and will get much bigger. We've somewhat trashed the landscape plan we have. We added the peach tree, nothing was supposed to be there on the plot. And the new Maples are a partial replacement of what I don't want -- Magnolia's, DD Blanchers -- to be exact, minus any spelling errors. The plan calls for Magnolia's. I don't like 'em. Yes, this is the South, and they'd be very fitting in that big empty part of the yard, but we aren't gonna do it. So we are playing it all by ear ... and buying things as we see them, when they suddenly pop out and say "put us in that spot of your 1/2 acre!"
The Paper Bark Maples are pretty. The bark peels, and it's a neat look.
Well I pulled alot of weeds, as I said above. I got a good amount of grass creepige out of two areas where it wasn't supposed to be, but was ignored last year when it should have been halted. The work is hard, but not that hard, the rain of last week, off and on for many days in a row, makes it easier to pull those roots out of the ground, those two or more feet long tough roots. What fun! This is what I've missed the last few years, moist earth. Dig down into planting beds, and it's so moist it starts getting like thick mud. Water, you could squeese it out of a handful of dirt.
How wonderful that is, it's been so dry. So very dry. And the drought is over. For now at least. Thank you God, for sending the healing rains!
I dug out all of my Hosta too. I moved them from an area that they did well in the few years before last ... to two other areas last year. Ugh! They did terrible. So I dug them out to re-plant in a new area, but more in the shade. I have some work to do to that area before I can plant them, so they must wait until Monday. Poor things. They are all cosy together in a plant tray, and I'll make sure they stay moist. It's hard work digging up Hosta. Strong thick roots! It's a heartless job. You just have to say, "I'm breaking you of right here!" and be done with it. ;)
Ah, Spring feels so good. Dirt under the fingernails, I should use my gloves. Nah. Dirt in bare hands feels GOOD! Especially moist, wonderful, filled with earthworms dirt!

I've applied the new blue color scheme to all my archives. So that means the old multi-colored look that many others have on THEIR blogs, is history here, and not truly documented. The only documentation of it would be on things like "Google" searches that "cache" pages which you can view when a search brings up a link that has been "cached".
I like the blue, it's calming, and something that I need to view at least once a day, at some point in the day. ;)

I've not posted much here lately. I've been preoccupied with some things ... and just not thinking of anything to write.
It's now Spring here where we live. Warm temperatures in the day, and above Freezing at night-time. The weeds are all growing. And "real" plants too. Trees are budding. Just the beginning of budding, but it's happening.
The Pussy Willow bush out front is getting all fuzzy, I love that. The October Glory Maple is blooming it's little burgundy "flowers", leaves to come soon! The Yoshino Cherry trees are getting their buds more and more active. Some are swelling and green, and others actually have the pink petals starting to form at the ends of the buds. It's going to be gorgeous. We have three of them on one side of the property, next to the driveway. We planted them last early Spring, so this is the first good bloom we'll have with them.
Out back some of the Autumn Flame Maple's are unfurling tiny burgundy leaves. A no-name tree [planted as a bare stick along with a few other "stick trees" and promptly losing and forgetting the info on each tree. We ID'd one of them last year finally, and found the tree eaten to death just a few weeks ago after looking around the property. The dog we USED to have, got rid of him a few months ago, ate the tree down to the stump. It wasn't that little, at least 2 1/2 feet tall. We can't see it from the house, so it went un-noticed until we went looking for it. Good thing that dog wasn't here anymore. ;)] is really big now, and has it's thorny branches actively growing and leaves have been out for a few weeks now. It's just a thorny fast growing thing, one of 5 "flowering" trees from a well known source for trees with membership. We've never seen flowers, and have no clue what it is. It has pretty form though, so it's by the back of our deck.
The other scraggly trees out back, the planting siblings of the "no-name" tree, are looking ready to start leafing out soon. They are so puny compare to no-name, I have no idea what the difference is between them all. They all spent the first two years next to each other in a planting bed. Then were moved last year to final locations. We put thorny no-name near the house since it was so big and nice. And it got really big in just one year. It's nearly top even with the deck railing, and that's at least 6 feet off the ground. Nearly needless to say, it's taller than me. So, it's growing like a weed. I'd think it was a weed if it didn't come from a reputable source.
Well, I was doing some weeding earlier this afternoon. We let things go crazy last summer, and never pulled a bunch of weeds back from the edges of the bern we built, and it's a tangled mess. And in the back, where my husband layed black plastic sheet for several weeks to kill everything off, it's once again full of Canada Thistle and chickweed and numerous other UIW [un-identified weeds]. So I sprayed Roundup on several areas today, what a hand cramping job that is.
There is so much work to do on the property, and not enough time, or money or energy to do much of anything that makes a difference. The lawn mower needs repaired too. What a bummer. The "grass" is more crabby than anything. Can you say "clumpy"? Long clumpy grass already, it's no fun.
But all in all, even with all the bad stuff and the non-ability to get much done, when Spring is in full swing, it'll look so good! The trees will be in color, pinks, reds, whites, and finally lush greens and reds. Exactly what is needed to cool the hot summer that's a-coming.
When the trees and bushes are all leafed out, they'll take the focus off of the clumpy crab grass. Right now, the scant looking trees just stand there, practically invisible. So the grass is centerstage. Not for long!

All is not done, fear not. I'm tired of the old colors. I changed a few of them awhile back, but wasn't satisfied. So now I'm going BLUE. I love blue and there's no reason not to just go bonkers with it!

Here's the next round of stuff from Doug Wilson: Giving Offense - Amended; and A Short Credo to Help the Heresy Hunt Along.
The "amended" version of "Giving Offense" has 4 new points tacked onto the bottom, as well as a "thanks" for the help of James Jordan with some of it.
It'd be one thing if his "amended" versions of his Credo's would be helpful, but they aren't. Just worse rhetoric, firey spitting -- name calling. It's entirely sad because he's setting himself up as a wise older man, one who deserves honor. He's acting like he's in 4th Grade. So very sad.
His attitude is one similar to other elderly people I know, the "years" equal status. Um No. Only if one has grown in Wisdom. Godly Wisdom isn't handed out to every gray haired person. And you don't have to have gray hair to have attained a status of a wisdom bearer. Mr. Wilson thinks he's wise. He's right, he's a wise-guy.

Search Google for "Orthodusty" and what comes up? This blog, and a few other blogs, and a couple of Doug Wilson things.

So when was Volume 10 out? Somewhere around 1998 as far as I can figure.
So is he calling some congregations, in the way their worship is presented, in the Presbyterian Reformed tradition, as "China figurines on a a shelf?" Then there's the dusty comments early in the article. It's two ways -- two extremes -- if you aren't in the middle doing it the right way as he is. Well, it seems his disdain for some groups of Christians, as is evident in the way he wrote this article, from back then has become real in that it's most evident who he now means is like that. The RPCUS? How may that be so? Is that jumping to conclusions? No.
Check out that article, then check out: A Short Credo on Orthodusty that Wilson wrote not long ago, or at least published not long ago. It's under the page entitled The Ongoing Discussion Between The Reformed Presbyterian Church of the United States and Christ Church of Moscow, Idaho, where you can find all the other Credo's and sundry items of recent times as well.
If he's not talking to the Warfield list, which maybe he's not, he is definitley talking to the RPCUS churches. If that's denied, then perhaps he could be persuaded to change the way those Credo's are on that page. Give the page a new title, then give the page subtitles with actual R.P.C.U.S. dialog under a particular heading, and the sundry items to "anyone who fits the bill" under another subtitle. Or is it that the title is all that's needed, how it's configured now is fine?
Come on over to any of the RPCUS churches and you'll see worship that's acceptable by God. And you'll see that we are not dusty.
